    More Information

Bankswood is a detached, pet-friendly bungalow sitting in the coastal village of Southerness, Dumfries and Galloway. An area known for fantastic outdoor activities, breath-taking scenery and historic sites, the property suits a family or group of five looking for a homely base for their adventures. Be welcomed into the kitchen/diner for evenings spent together around the table tucking into a delicious home-cooked meal; the kitchen hosts an electric oven and hob, microwave, and fridge/freezer. Put your feet up in the sitting room to plan tomorrow’s activities or catch your favourite show on the TV. Why not spend summer days in your private, enclosed garden with a cool beverage in hand whilst your dog’s bask in the sunshine? Head straight to the shower room to hang your towel on the heated rail and unwind with a hot shower, before retreating to one of two bedrooms to catch your rest; there is a king-size and a triple bunk to suit a variety of parties! When it’s time to explore, Southerness has everything you need for a self-catering holiday; dine at the Paul Jones hotel or use the pool and join in the fun at the Mermaid Bar. There’s an excellent golf course nearby, the historic Southerness Lighthouse, and three dog-friendly beaches, Powillimount Beach, Sandy Hill’s and Southerness Beach, sandy beaches to peruse rock pools, sunbathe or take in the fresh, sea air with a coastal walk. The area is scattered with walking trails, wildlife and beautiful scenes including RSPB Mersehead, Mares Braids Waterfall and Bainloch Deer Park, whilst the town of Castle Douglas is a short drive away; the town hosts supermarkets and eateries such as The Earth’s Crust Bakery, with the island fortress of Threave Castle just on the outskirts. Spend the day in Dalbeattie to discover local artefacts at Dalbeattie Museum Trust, take a walk through Dalbeattie Forest Town Wood or for more of Scotland’s renowned golfing, head to Dalbeattie Golf Club. There’s so much to see in the market town of Dumfries, such as the former home of the famed poet, Robert Burns, Gracefield Arts Centre and Moat Brae: National Centre for Children’s Literature and Storytelling; Dalscone Farm Fun is just north of the town for a fun-filled day out for the whole family!
