Set in the heart of the Lake District National Park, The Homestead Lodge offers the perfect base for a couple looking to explore the delights of Cumbria, whilst a short journey from the amenities, attractions and lake of Windermere. Travel through the gated entrance, park up off-road, and take in your peaceful, woodland surroundings, recommended to traverse for the opportunity to spot wildlife from your doorstep. Step indoors and be greeted by a charming, open-plan living space, complete with a well-equipped kitchen, a handy breakfast bar, and a homely sitting area, where you can sink into the plush sofa after a busy day of walking, with a lovely woodburning stove to light on cooler evenings. Toast to your getaway over a romantic meal for two, or if the weather allows, set the patio table and listen to the surrounding wildlife as the sun sets over Cumbria. Retire to the double bedroom, where you can rest and rejuvenate, whilst a sleek wet room is on offer, with the added luxury of underfloor heating to keep you warm. Come morning, enjoy a fresh coffee and a breakfast hamper, before heading into the woodland for a hike, followed by a tour of the local area, starting with the nearby village of Troutbeck Bridge, an area of unspoilt natural beauty with rolling hills, delightful cottages, and a friendly pub to sample some traditional Cumbrian fare. Nearby, take a trip to the iconic Lake Windermere, the largest natural lake in the UK, for tranquil boat trips, kayaking and paddleboarding, plus a range of steamer cruises and attractions for all types of interests. If you’d prefer to stay on dry land, the Windermere Jetty Museum – Stories of boats and steam, is only a short drive away, as is the 19th-century Blackwell and Holehird Gardens. For an electric atmosphere, take a short drive to the bustling town of Ambleside with its range of independent shops, eateries, and pubs, or explore the nearby villages of Grasmere and Coniston, both oozing culture, history, and natural beauty. Experience all the glory of the national park by booking The Homestead Lodge.
