Flanked by ancient woodland where the owners have created a haven for wildlife and kept landscaping to a minimum, the garden sweeps down to the lakeshore benefiting from its own private jetty mooring (boats can only be launched from Bowness-on-Windermere, not from the house), and a small beach overlooked by the large covered outdoor dining area. Bowness-on-Windermere is a pretty Lakeland village with a wealth to explore, you can hire a row boat or take a cruise on one of the steamers to see the shores from the water, while the Windermere Lake Cruises that depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside provide a spectacular way to explore with no need of a car. The opportunities for walking are endless in this part of the world so whether it’s a leisurely amble or a hardcore hike, there is something to suit all abilities.
