Grab your walking boots and head for Wansfell Pike or why not push yourself to the limit with an enthralling hike to the peak of Red Screens. Wander the tranquil woodland of Stagshaw Garden before continuing to the centre of Ambleside where you will find a plethora of charming cafés, restaurants and pubs, together covering all of your self-catering needs. See the ancient remains of Ambleside Roman Fort, or visit the neighbouring villages of Rydal and Grasmere to learn of the life and works of famous English Poet William Wordsworth. Those travelling with children will relish in days out at Treetop Lake District and Brockhole on Windermere, as well as the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis and thrilling Water Park Lakeland Adventure Centre, all just a pleasant drive away.
