From here you can walk from the door to make the most of some of the Lake District’s finest peaks. With valley rambles for easier days and plenty of places to visit by car, you will never be short of something to do. For the more energetic the long-established Newlands Adventure Centre is close by, offering a range of activities such as climbing, canoeing, ghyll scrambling and archery.
For a more leisurely pace you can amble beside nearby Newlands Beck or take a short walk (1 mile) to the shore of beautiful Derwentwater, where you can catch the launch to sail to Keswick or down to Grange in Borrowdale. The Swinside Inn is half a mile from the cottage or a short drive to Braithwaite will find the Village Shop and a choice of pubs. The thriving town of Keswick has year-round shopping, markets, cinema, theatre, pubs and restaurants.
