    More Information

This enchanting 18th century getaway rests in a quiet corner just off the bustling centre of Ambleside, in the heart of the Lake District. Arranged at the end of a short terrace of three, Hideaway Cottage has been refurbished to include all contemporary comforts for you to enjoy your holiday any time of year, whilst retaining its cosiness, character and charm, perfect for an escape as a couple, family or with friends. Slate steps lead down to the front south-facing entrance which will bring you into the sitting room, home to two sofas, a woodburning stove and TV. The kitchen is complete with fitted units and is a comforting place to prepare those home-cooked meals before sitting down at the nearby dining table. Climb the stairs to the first floor and discover the double bedroom with feature window seat and well-proportioned stylish bathroom with shower over bath, basin and WC. Another flight of stairs will bring you to a spacious twin room with character beams and striking views over Loughrigg Fell. For some fresh air, you can rest on the sunny and south-facing patio with a cold beverage or take the short walk into Ambleside for a coffee in one of the many cafés. England’s largest lake is at your fingertips, for cruises and water activities, while on land you can hike in scenery that sparked the imaginations of people like William Wordsworth. For dedicated walkers there are plenty of superb hiking routes from the doorstep, especially those up Loughrigg Fell and towards Rydal Cave, a former slate quarry above the southern shore of Rydal Water. Perhaps you would prefer a good old-fashioned cruise on a steamer, granting you uninterrupted views of Windermere’s fells and lakeside houses, without having to move a muscle? Further afield, you can visit the National Trust property Hill Top, walk the delightful Claife Heights or spend the day at the larger town of Kendal. At the end of your day, Hideaway Cottage will be waiting to welcome you back for a peaceful holiday at any time of year.
