More information

The Rowans is set in the market town of Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway, offering a well-kept and welcoming base for couples, friends or small families keen to explore Scotland’s south-west. With woodland, coastline and rolling countryside close by, it’s well placed for making the most of this varied landscape. Inside, the sitting room provides a comfortable space to relax, complete with a Smart TV for quieter evenings after time spent outdoors. The kitchen/diner is generously sized and equipped for preparing and enjoying meals together, whether it’s a quick breakfast before heading out or a relaxed supper at the end of the day. A separate utility room adds useful extra space, particularly for longer stays or for drying off after coastal walks. There are two bedrooms: a double and a twin with zip-and-link beds that can be arranged to suit your group. A shower room fitted with a walk-in shower, basin, heated towel rail and WC completes the interior. The layout is practical and suited to a range of guests, including those travelling with a dog. To the rear, an enclosed yard with a picnic bench offers a pleasant spot for sitting out with a coffee or enjoying an easy meal in the open air. Off-road parking for up to three cars provides added convenience. Newton Stewart has a selection of shops, cafés and pubs within walking distance, along with access to riverside paths along the River Cree. The nearby Galloway Forest Park is popular for walking, cycling and stargazing, being part of the UK’s first Dark Sky Park. Coastal villages such as Port William and the artists’ town of Kirkcudbright are within easy reach, while Castle Douglas offers independent food shops and a traditional market-town atmosphere. The Rowans provides a comfortable base for discovering forests, beaches and the characterful towns of Dumfries and Galloway.
