    More Information

Westport 5.5 miles. Nestled on the water’s edge of Rosmoney Pier, in scenic County Mayo, is this stone-built cottage, Tom’s Cottage, just an hour’s drive from Knock Airport. Enjoying a serene setting overlooking the water and boats, Tom’s Cottage welcomes families and couples seeking a relaxing base in this glorious region. Upon arrival, park up in the spacious driveway before stepping through the half door into the living room. Get comfortable on the sofa as you listen to the crackle of the woodburner, or tune into the TV and catch up on your favourite shows. Follow the flagstone flooring into the kitchen, where the designated chef can whip up something good; there’s plenty of appliances on hand, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and even a dishwasher, so washing up will be a breeze! As you prepare for bed, wash away the day in the shower room before choosing between the family room or double room to catch some rest, both neutrally presented with good storage space. The property opens up to a large lawned where you can enjoy family games and picnics as you watch the boats bob with the tide, while there is also garden furniture for alfresco dining. From the pier you can catch a boat trip out for fishing, or if you’d prefer to stay on land there are plenty of allocated fishing spots in the area. The cottage is also near The Mayo Sailing Club for a range of watersports, as well as golfing and horse-riding opportunities for the outdoor enthusiasts. Hop in the car and head to the town of Westport, home to a wide range of shops, restaurants, pubs and bars. Stop off for a pint of Guinness and catch some traditional Irish music and dancing. For days out with the little ones, head to Westport House, a short 10 mins drive away and adventure park, or explore a little further and visit Achill Island, Ireland’s largest island and home to some of Mayo’s most stunning beaches and unspoilt scenery. Here, you are also well-positioned to spend the day in Gallway an hour away, embark on a challenging hike up Croagh Patrick, spend the day along the coast at a selection of fantastic beaches or even travel to the bustling city of Dublin if you’re up for the drive! Tom’s Cottage is a welcoming base in a tranquil position, perfect for a getaway in any season.
