Kilcash Castle Cottage is a detached natural stone house situated adjacent to Kilcash Castle and Churchyard, (1190-1801), original Norman Tower residence of the Butler family, Earls of Ormond (Kilkenny Castle). Completely renovated recently to the highest modern standards, it is nestled beneath Slievenamon, ( Mountain of the Women) and overlooking the entire valley. Its location is both scenic and historically significant in Irish history, the lament for Cill Chais being the most celebrated poem and ballad in Gaelic literature. The vantage point chosen by the Butlers offers views stretching as far as Waterford with the Comeragh mountain range directly to the south. Popular historical locations such as Kilkenny Castle, the Rock of Cashel, Cahir Castle and the Elizabethan Tudor Manor in Carrick on Suir are all within a half hour s radius of this tranquil home in its cul de sac, the garden with orchard, pine grove and stream add wonderfully to the general setting. The area is a thriving agricultural community with sports field and several tennis and squash courts available to use for a small visitors fee. Two traditional pubs (1km) offer refreshment and occasionally traditional Irish music. A shop and a pub are a short drive away for any essentials or a meal out. Step into your new holiday abode and enter the welcoming living and dining area. Pick your corner of the sofa or claim the armchair as you settle in and take in the magnificent exposed stonework that enhances your surroundings .Unwind into the furniture and turn on the Smart TV to find one of your favourite shows on Netflix. If you prefer some quiet time, make the most of the other sitting room with a selection of books on offer, however, there is the option of another Smart TV. Make the most of the fully-fitted kitchen with an electric oven and hob ready to assist you when cooking up a storm. Plate the delicious food at the dining table to eat together. Once you’re full head outside to appreciate the glorious views all around you. Take in the beaming sun until it ebbs away for the night sky. When the breeze gets chilly, head back in and warm up next to the woodburning stove. Call it a night when you sense a yawn coming along on one of the upstairs double beds. Start a new day off with a soak in the bath or a refreshing shower ahead of more fun activities.
