More information

Bridge 2.4 miles. Whitebeams is a handsome Edwardian house in Pett Bottom, Kent, with off-road parking, far-reaching valley views, a generous private garden, and access to 23 acres of woodland. Set across three storeys, this substantial home offers an impressive sense of space, making it an excellent choice for larger families or groups who want room to gather and spread out with ease. From the moment you step inside, the scale of the interiors becomes clear, with multiple reception rooms allowing the house to shift effortlessly between sociable and quieter moments. The sitting room centres around a woodburning stove, where evenings can unfold with the glow of the fire, while the snug provides an additional retreat for a slower pace away from the main hub of the home. At the heart of the house, the kitchen is well-equipped for preparing anything from quick breakfasts to generous evening meals, with ample surface space and appliances to support group cooking. Meals can be enjoyed in one of the two dining rooms, each offering a different setting, whether it’s a bright start to the day or a more formal dinner as the light fades. The conservatory extends the living space further, drawing in the surrounding landscape and offering a calm setting to sit with a drink or a book while overlooking the garden. Across the top two floors, five bedrooms are thoughtfully arranged, including a tucked-away second-floor queen-size room that offers a little separation within the house. Two bathrooms and an additional shower room are well-placed to support busy mornings, ensuring the house works practically for larger groups. Outside, the patio and lawn invite long afternoons of dining and time spent taking in the valley backdrop, while the woodland beyond provides a natural extension to your stay, encouraging walks and exploration directly from the doorstep. Within easy reach, Bridge offers access to Bourne Park, where open parkland, riverside walks along the Nailbourne, and seasonal greenery create an appealing setting for outdoor days. A short drive leads to Canterbury, where visitors can explore Canterbury Cathedral, wander along the historic city walls, and enjoy the winding streets of the King’s Mile with its independent shops and characterful architecture. For time by the coast, head to Whitstable, known for its working harbour, Tankerton Slopes, and long shingle shoreline stretching towards the horizon. Further afield, the dramatic White Cliffs of Dover, the historic streets and quayside of Sandwich, and the wide coastal views at Reculver Towers and Broadstairs’ Viking Bay offer a varied mix of landscapes and experiences, all within reach. The local pub, The Duck, offers an excellent Sunday lunch and is within walkable distance. However you choose to spend your time, Whitebeams offers a spacious and characterful base for experiencing this part of Kent.
