Traditionally furnished and decorated, this Ruswarp cottage provides desirable accommodation for couples wishing to stay in a tranquil riverside setting, but within easy reach of the lively seaside town of Whitby. The spacious sitting room takes in lovely views over the river and offers a cosy woodburner for cooler evenings, whilst the small kitchen opens onto a porch/conservatory with additional seating overlooking the garden. Outside this Ruswarp cottage, a lawned garden runs alongside the river banks, a delightful place to sit, relax and watch the abundance of wildlife – including seals that are regularly seen swimming upstream. This Ruswarp cottage has the added benefit of river access, so guests are able to bring canoes and kayaks. Ruswarp village has excellent facilities, including a renowned butcher’s, a local inn serving real ales and food and a village shop. Steam trains regularly pass by in the summer months and a public footpath offers a pleasant walk into Whitby, with its famous abbey, good beaches and historic harbour. Why not climb the 199 steps up to St. Mary’s church and take an invigorating cliff top walk, or explore the quaint, narrow streets and cobbled market place? With the spectacular scenery of the North York Moors close by and the dramatic coastline to discover, this Ruswarp cottage provides an ideal base.
