More information

Hollie Cottage is one of three attractive holiday properties, converted from a former dairy with a light and airy feel to the property and set in the pretty village of Colyford, close to the Jurassic coast. Colyford village is about a mile and a half from the seafront at Seaton and the pretty harbour at Axmouth and midway along the main coast road between the lovely seaside resorts of Lyme Regis and Sidmouth. The cottage has been sympathetically restored with high oak-beamed ceilings and an attractive oak floor. The open-plan living area makes excellent use of the space with a large comfortable sofa, dining table and modern fitted kitchen. The separate bedroom has a King size bed and a luxury en-suite shower room.

The village includes a small grocery store, an excellent butchers, a cycle shop and cafe. There are also a couple of traditional pubs, both serving food. This is a good base for couples to explore the wonderful area of West Dorset and East Devon. The whole of the Jurassic Coast (including Seaton, Beer and Sidmouth), now a World Heritage site, is within easy reach and the lovely West Dorset seaside town of Lyme Regis is only about 15 minutes away by car. The popular Seaton Tramway, running along the Axe estuary, stops nearby offering a relaxing way to discover the local area. Walkers will be spoilt for choice with many wonderful inland footpaths nearby as well as the stunning South West Coast Path running along this section of the Jurassic Coast.

Please note the shared garden area will only be available for the 2026 season, for 2027 guests will have use of just the small paved area directly outside of the property, with a bistro table and chairs.

Outside

There is a small paved area accommodating a bistro table and chairs at the front of the cottage and access to a shared garden area across the courtyard with garden furniture and use of a gas Weber barbecue. The owners also provide a secure bike storage shed. A pet should be accompanied when in the garden.

The local area

Conveniently placed for all the local attractions and surrounded by rolling Dorset countryside, Colyford’s pretty thatched and stone cottages hug the road between Sidmouth and Lyme Regis.

A thriving village with post office, butchers, café and two excellent pubs, Colyford has the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site and all its attractions on the doorstep. The Seaton Tramway which runs the length of the Axe Estuary stops nearby and is a fabulous way to explore the area. Hop off at Seaton Wetlands to spend some time with the family spotting rare bird and wildlife. Or travel down the line to the seaside town of Seaton itself to discover its lovely beaches, shops, restaurants and attractions. Seaton is also an ideal place to pick up the South West Coast Path to discover the area’s stunning coastal scenery and stretch those legs in the process.

Holidays in Colyford are perfect for food lovers too, with Hugh Fearnley-Wittingstall’s River Cottage cookery school and restaurant just a few miles to the north in Axminster where you’ll also find the Axe Valley Wildlife Park and lots more to see and do.
