The village of Bashley is less than a couple of miles from New Milton where you’ll find supermarkets, a street market, pubs and restaurants. The village itself has a well-stocked village store with post office and a lovely garden centre. However, you’d be wise to pop in to Ferndene farm shop for outstandingly good fruit, veg, bread and cakes, dairy produce and meat – they have a fine reputation for the best sausages in the forest!
Bashley hosts an annual village show, and events are usually held in either the Cricket Club or Church Hall opposite. Visitors to the New Forest often head to Bashley if they want to go horse riding. Burley Villa Riding Stables are well known for traditional horse riding and American western riding, providing experienced and novice riders tracks, hacks and even BBQ trails out to the forest to ride alongside the famous free roaming ponies.
