Well worth a visit is the nearby Danby Moors Centre, with its exhibitions, cafe and walking trails, whilst train enthusiasts will enjoy a trip on the North York Moors Steam Railway at Grosmont, which winds its way through heather clad moors to Pickering. A short drive from this Castleton cottage brings you to the small seaside resort of Saltburn, with gardens leading from the town centre to the sandy beach, with its renowned cliff lift and long pier. Further down the coast lies the bustling town of Whitby with many attractions, including boat excursions, ghost walks, museums and long golden sands. Take in the sights on the open top bus, wander around the cobbled market square and quirky ginnels or tempt the taste buds with the famous fish and chips! With so much on offer in the vicinity, this lovely Castleton cottage provides an excellent base.
