This delightful, stone-built cottage is nestled in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale, a thriving market town situated midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. This cottage is a very unique building with the dramatic roof line leading to it being known locally as the Witches Hat – it features on the illustration of local buildings to be found at the famous Devils Bridge and next to the Tourist Information Centre. Well-suited for two couples or a family, this welcoming abode provides a lovely base for an action-packed getaway. As you approach the property, you will find a designated off-road parking space available just outside the cottage, so you can unload your bags with ease. Discover the sitting room, where you can cosy up on the large corner sofa and enjoy a film from the Smart TV, with a woodburning stove to provide a gentle warmth. Gather in the spacious dining area and take a seat at the table to talk about your day and enjoy a drink whilst the chef of the group gets acquainted in the kitchen, fitted with a whole host of appliances, including an electric double oven and gas hob, microwave, and fridge. The useful utility room includes a washing machine, tumble dryer and freestanding under the counter freezer, it also provides a space to store walking boots and outdoor gear and also includes two drying racks for those days when you have been caught out in the rain. Take the evening outside to the patio, offering some outdoor furniture where you can savour the last of the summer sun on a warm evening. Climbing the stairs, you will reach the bedrooms, including the master with a super king-size bed and contemporary en-suite bathroom, where you can recover with a soothing soak, and you will find another king-size bedroom served by a sleek shower room. When you’re ready to venture out, pop on your walking boots and stroll through the town of Kirkby Lonsdale, where you will find a good wealth of independent shops, excellent pubs, cafés and restaurants for when you want a night off the kitchen. Be sure to visit the magnificent three-arched bridge, the 14th century Devils Bridge, also worth visiting is the captivating Ruskin’s View which can be accessed via the 86 Radical Steps, where you can take in the lovely views of Lune Valley and Underley Hall. Stroll along the beautiful Ingleton Waterfalls Trails, giving you chance to soak up the natural splendour of the area, while the White Scar Cave is sure to impress with subterranean passages, caverns and waterfalls, with an eco-friendly visitor centre. Alternatively, head into the Lake District where you can enjoy a leisurely cruise across Lake Windermere before settling down for afternoon tea in one of the many tea rooms in Bowness-on-Windermere. Lonsdale Cottage is a wonderful retreat, fit for a memorable getaway, whatever time of year.
