Whithorn 1.5 miles. This charming, detached lodge, Roe Deer Lodge, rests in a quiet holiday park in Castlewigg near Whithorn, Dumfries and Galloway. Surrounded by the quaint countryside of the Machars Peninsula and offering ground-floor living, Roe Deer Lodge is a relaxing base for a family of four wanting to explore this part of Scotland. Climb the steps and make your way inside the pleasant open-plan living space, where the sitting area offers ample seating for you to curl up on whilst enjoying a film on the Smart TV. Drive a short distance south to Whithorn, where you can stop for a pint at the Railway Inn or enjoy food from their newly opened pub, grab any essentials from the local Costcutter, before touring the fascinating Whithorn Priory & Museum. You will also finds Swallows Threatre, Scotland’s smallest theatre, nearby. Further away rests Wigtown, where the fantastic Wigtown & Bladnoch Golf Club, the nature reserve of Wigtown Bird Hide and the scenic plains of Southfield Park can be found. Venture onwards to Newton Stewart, where you can visit the local museum, try your hand at mountain biking at the nearby 7Stanes: Kirrochtree or enjoy a leisurely stroll along the River Cree. During your stay you will be fortunate enough to rest close to Monreith Animal World, where you can meet a range of fascinating animals, the enchanting St Ninian’s Cave, along with the vast Galloway Forest Park, just to name a few, whilst the beach is just five miles away.
