The area is superb for lovers of the outdoors, with the nearby Howgill Fells, a favourite of Wainwright, offering great walking and cycling opportunities, and the famous Coast-to-Coast route passes nearby. Alternatively, enjoy the countryside from the comfort of a traditional steam train with the famous Settle-Carlisle railway can be easily accessed from the cottage. With the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks close by, this makes for an excellent holiday base whatever the time of year.
