    More Information

Esther’s Barn is a luxurious eco-friendly property situated in Southwaite Green, which is a development of four holiday cottages in tranquil Lorton Vale, in the north west of the Lake District. It is nestled midway between Lorton and Cockermouth, both 3 miles away, and is 9 miles west of Keswick.

A top quality accommodation, Esther’s Barn was awarded a Gold Award from the Green Tourism Scheme. This 2-bedroom holiday home sleeps 4 and its environmentally conscious yet traditional design includes underfloor heating throughout, solar panels and locally sourced timber.

The comfortable slate-floored bedrooms, one double and one twin, are both located on the ground floor. Both have en-suite shower rooms with hand basin and WC.

Up the oak staircase, you will find a spacious open plan lounge, fully equipped kitchen and dining area. Cosy sofas placed around a wood burning stove, television and DVD player offer sumptuous relaxation after a long day of activities.

French windows from both living and dining areas open onto a terrace which overlooks the woodland, fruit garden and beck-side walk. There is shared use of a grass court for general use. The property is set on Paddle Beck, within ten acres of land that includes a wildlife meadow, arboretum, pond and woodland. Lovers of wildlife may spot red squirrels, badgers, deer, foxes, owls or herons.

The western lakes of Loweswater, Crummock Water, Buttermere and Ennerdale are only a short drive away. A superb area for walking and cycling or enjoying the many shops and restaurants of nearby Cockermouth or Keswick

With stunning views, it is the perfect base from which to explore England’s largest National Park, ideal for a couple with two children, or two couples holidaying together in need of a relaxing scenic getaway.

Note: This property can be booked with Refs. 972320, 972322, and 972323, together sleeping up to 18 guests.
