Appleby has many traditional shops and tea rooms, and sits on the historic Settle-Carlisle line. The surrounding area is scattered with beautiful villages, including Ravenstonedale and Crosby Ravensworth, where you can find fabulous pubs located in beautiful English countryside. A visit over to Pooley Bridge, on the shores of Ullswater, is a must, where you can board the Ullswater Steamer and cruise gently down the lake, framed by the enchanting mountains and streams tumbling down the fells.
