Sherford is the quintessential chocolate box Devon village, a pretty little hamlet teeming with gorgeous thatched cottages with roses around the doors, dotted along Sherford’s narrow, winding lane. It has a lovely atmosphere, an ancient church and is situated in a pleasant, unspoilt, rural valley. The neighbouring village of Frogmore, at the head of the picturesque Frogmore Creek, is just 1.5 miles away with a pub and brilliant bakery/village shop.
Sherford is also well located for exploring the beaches at Torcross, Beesands and Hallsands – which are all within a 15-minute drive from the village, and are all dog-friendly year-round. From any of these, you can join the glorious South West Coast Path for bracing walks along windswept cliff paths with breathtaking views of the rugged coastline.
At the nearest beach, Slapton Sands at Torcross, you can treat yourself to some of the best fish and chips from around these parts at The Start Bay Inn, or indulge in a fabulous English Breakfast or delicious cream tea from the Seabreeze Café. You'll also find the stunning Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve here – a large freshwater lake separated from the sea by a narrow shingle bar, and surrounded by reedbeds, marshes and woodland, and home to an abundance of birds and wildlife.
The vibrant market town of Kingsbridge is just a ten-minute drive away and offers an excellent selection of independent shops, delis, cafés and pubs, as well as two supermarkets so you can stock up on all the essentials.
A holiday cottage in Sherford is the perfect rural spot to relax and unwind, or from which to explore the truly beautiful South Devon countryside and coastline.
