Explore your surroundings by taking a drive into the nearby town of Richmond, boasting a stunning Norman castle, Georgian architecture, a large cobbled market place, with museums and monuments, accompanied by a large selection of places to eat and drink. Enjoy the Castle Walk to immerse yourself in its history, or walk alongside the River Swale where there are parks, safe paddling areas and small waterfalls. For outdoor enthusiasts, there is the glorious North Yorkshire National Park, home to a plethora of walking opportunities and other nearby tourist spots include Barnard Castle and Leyburn, a beautiful market town with a wide array of pubs and restaurants. Middleham is also close by, home to the castle, which was once King Richards III’s childhood home and is rich in horse racing heritage.
