Stokenham is a lovely village situated on the main road between Kingsbridge and Dartmouth, less than a mile from the coastal village of Torcross. With two great local pubs, the excellent Stokely Farm Shop and Restaurant, and many fantastic beaches and beautiful countryside on your doorstep, it is a great spot for a holiday in Devon.
There are many picturesque country walks in the surrounding area, as well as the magnificent South West Coast Path which can be joined at Torcross, a dog-friendly pebble beach with breathtaking views across Start Bay. The Slapton Ley Nature Reserve is a fresh water lake here separated from the sea by a narrow strip of shingle, and home to many species of rare birds and wildlife.
The market town of Kingsbridge, at the head of the Salcombe Estuary, lies some 6 miles or so to the west, whilst the historic naval town of Dartmouth is just a little further in the opposite direction along the spectacularly rugged cliff top coast road, that also takes in the popular beach at Blackpool Sands en route.
