It is accessed along a single-lane track that meanders across the fells. This charming, reverse-level accommodation is bursting with character, retaining a lot of its original features throughout, with exposed stone walls and wooden beams. The first floor sitting room makes the most of the views across the fells, where you can get cosy on the sofas and unwind into a cool winter’s evening by the fire. Enjoy walks along the tranquil River Wear; visit the famous fossil tree, which is approximately 320 million years old, or the 12th Century church of St Thomas. The surrounding area has many historic attractions, including Raby Castle, Long Meg and Her Daughters, a Bronze Age stone circle near Penrith, and the Acorn Bank Garden and Watermill.
