The local area

Picture-postcard Ashprington has been described as ‘the village that time forgot.’ If you choose to rent a holiday cottage in Ashprington, you can expect views of wooded hills, rolling meadows, and unspoilt countryside stretching down to the banks of sleepy Bow Creek, where water gently laps as it wends its way to meet the River Avon.

Ashprington’s breath-taking scenery and peaceful setting, make it an ideal location for those looking to enjoy a relaxing holiday in South Devon. However, if you prefer to be active on holiday, there are also plenty of things to see and do nearby that will keep you busy.

The ancient market town and river port, Totnes, with its busy narrow streets full of architectural and historic interest, is just 2 miles away. Or take a trip into nearby Dartmouth, famous for its maritime history and Elizabethan port. Dartmoor National Park, and several outstanding beaches and stunning South Devon coastline are all within easy reach by car. End your day at either the Durant Arms, Ashprington’s traditional 18th century inn, or The Waterman's Arms, with its wonderful waterside location, good food and drink, and beautiful riverside beer garden.

For a day out with a difference, why not visit the nearby Sharpham Estate, perched on the banks of the River Dart, for a fabulous tour of the vineyard, winery and house followed by some indulgence and a taste of their award winning wines and cheeses.

Experience the charm of one of Devon’s best kept secrets by booking a holiday cottage in Ashprington.
