Shrewsbury 5 miles. A delightful, Grade II listed barn conversion located adjacent to a quiet working livestock farm, in the tiny hamlet of Chatford, 2.5 miles from Bayston Hill, in the popular county of Shropshire. This former agricultural brick-built barn, dating back to the 1830s, has been lovingly restored into a pretty, welcoming cottage, set in an idyllic rural location. Beautifully renovated, the cottage offers modern open plan living downstairs, ideal for families or couples looking to explore this area. Entering into the stylish fitted kitchen you will immediately be taken by the cosy, well-equipped accommodation, with the dining room centrally located in a high galleried hallway, with A frame beams set in the wall. The sitting area has further exposed beams, an external stable door and a warming characterful woodburner recessed in a small inglenook fireplace; perfect for relaxing on the reclining chairs and warming your toes in front of the glowing embers. Upstairs, off the mezzanine half-landing, two separate staircases lead to a double bedroom and a twin room with zip/link beds that can be converted to make a super king-size room if required. Both bedrooms benefit from en-suite facilities and have a TV/DVD. Outside, there is parking in a courtyard, a lawned area and an outbuilding where bikes can be safely stored. There is a wealth of walking opportunities with numerous footpaths leading through the 100 acres of farm land, offering unspoilt trails from the doorstep, and joining up with the Shropshire Way within a mile. The Stiperstones and the Stretton Hills provide further rambling opportunities, plus for cyclists, there is the bonus of National Cycle Route 44 passing close by. The delights of the historic market town of Shrewsbury are just a short drive away, and Telford with its famous Ironbridge Gorge should not be missed off your itinerary. This is a superb character cottage in a wonderful holiday location.
