Sandbach is a large historic market town dating back to Saxon times, with its famous Saxon Crosses still visible in the picturesque cobbled square where it still holds regular weekly markets, and a monthly farmers’ market. Sandbach offers an array of independent specialist and high street chain stores, interspersed with gastropubs, specialist food stores and real ale pubs. Local parks include Congleton Park and Sandbach Park with bowling greens and outdoor gym, or nearby Brereton Heath Nature Reserve with its wildlife and woodland walks. The cottage is an ideal base to access the towns of Congleton, Alsager, Middlewich and Holmes Chapel, where you can also take the train into Manchester. Join the Dane Valley Way, South Cheshire Way or Cheshire Ring Canal Way for miles of beautiful cycle trails. The nearby National Trust properties of Little Moreton Hall and Tatton Hall are well worth a visit as are The Potteries at Stoke-on-Trent. This cosy cottage is an ideal, romantic getaway or perfect touring base, from which to relax and explore the delights of the surrounding area, and the Peak District is just a half hour drive away.
