    More Information

Portesham 3 miles. Abbotsbury 5 miles. Cobblers Cottage was built around 1750 and is one of the oldest thatched cottages in the small hamlet of Langton Herring, situated on the Jurassic Coast and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village is off the beaten track, very quiet and a haven for walkers. Fully renovated and well equipped but retaining its traditional features such as wooden beams and the inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove, the cottage has a living room, separate dining room, kitchen, downstairs bathroom & WC and 2 bedrooms, the master bedroom having an en-suite shower room and WC. Outside, there is a patio with a table and a large lawned garden with tables and benches and a view over fields (sometimes with sheep grazing).

It’s a short walk through the fields to The Fleet Lagoon, a tranquil inlet behind Chesil Beach where Barnes Wallis tested his famous ‘bouncing bomb’ prior to the Dambuster’s Raid in World War 2. The South West Coastal Path for longer walks is beside the Fleet Lagoon and, for the children, there is an enclosed play area next to the village green.

For people with limited mobility please be aware there are 2 steps up from the living room to the kitchen and 4 steps from the patio to the garden. Stairs to the bedrooms are straight with a banister. Also, watch your head on the low beam in the en-suite shower in the master bedroom. Note that Shop Lane is too narrow for parking outside cottage (except to unload) but there is unrestricted parking in the lane immediately opposite the cottage anywhere along the left side (next to stone wall) or further up Shop Lane in the lay-by on the right. A holiday at Cobblers Cottage promises an unforgettable Dorset experience at every turn.
