Set in the heart of the small fishing village of Porthallow and just a short stroll from a shingle beach and local pub, the cottage has a secluded south facing garden with patio and lawn.
Cockle Island Cottage is cosy and comfortable in winter, with a wood burning stove in the lounge/dining room, and in summer the garden offers the opportunity for alfresco dining or have a BBQ on the beach. The bedroom has a king size bed, the fitted kitchen is well equipped and the small shower room has driftwood shelves and a heated towel rail. There are books and information about local walks in the lounge.
The South West Coast Path is just 50 metres from the cottage, offering excellent coastal views across Falmouth Bay to St. Anthony’s Head, and a beautiful walk to Gillan Creek and the Helford River. Porthallow beach is used by local fishermen, and it is possible to drive onto the beach to launch canoes and dinghies. The local pub by the beach is The Five Pilchards and offers a warm welcome to visitors. A short walk from the beach on the St Keverne road, you will find a lovely café called Fat Apples which serves home cooked food; hearty breakfasts, scrummy cakes, and afternoon teas.
