More information

Crantock is a well-appointed house resting in Sherborne, Dorset, offering private driveway parking for three cars, a patio garden with barbecue, and generous space for families or friends holidaying together, with one well-behaved pet welcome. Inside, the kitchen/diner sets the pace for shared mornings, with space to gather around the table as plans take shape, while the sitting room provides a welcoming place to unwind, centred around a gas fire for relaxed evenings in. A separate snug offers flexibility, whether for quieter moments or spreading out as a group, and the utility keeps everyday essentials neatly tucked away. Three bedrooms, two king size and a twin, are arranged across the first floor, served by a smart shower room and a second bathroom with freestanding bath and walk-in shower, offering choice and ease at the end of the day. Outside, the garden patio invites time spent outdoors, from slow breakfasts to evenings cooking on the barbecue. Spend time exploring the town itself, wandering Cheap Street’s independent shops, admiring the grandeur of Sherborne Abbey, or strolling through Sherborne Castle and its landscaped gardens. Ideally positioned in the heart of Sherborne, Crantock is less than a five-minute walk from two excellent restaurants; ‘The Green’ at the top of Cheap Street and Newell at the bottom of Greenhill. The town also offers several pubs and inviting cafés, including the recently restored Sherborne House, now home to an art gallery, café and restaurant. For added convenience, a Waitrose store is just a few minutes’ walk from the house, while a Sainsbury’s near the railway station is around a ten-minute walk away. For days out, Yeovil offers shopping, dining and entertainment, Dorchester brings Roman history, museums and a lively market-town feel, while Shaftesbury rewards visitors with its historic streets, Gold Hill views and characterful cafés. Closer to home, Sherborne Castle and its gardens remain a highlight, while the sculpture park and gallery at Hauser and Wirth on the edge of Bruton are also well worth a visit. Bruton itself offers a selection of excellent restaurants and independent shops, making it a worthwhile addition to your itinerary.
