However, if you are up for a day trip then hop in the car and get ready for some amazing views. Benbecula is well worth a visit where you can go otter spotting, take a ride along the beach at Uist Community Riding School or play golf on the 18-hole golf course which boasts some spectacular views. Head further north where you will find the Isle of North Uist which also loads going on including the bustling town of Lochmaddy which is only half an hour’s drive from the cottage and has a good selection of shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants and from here you can catch a boat to the Isle of Skye if you want to carry on exploring the wonderful islands of the Outer Hebrides. The Isle of South Uist can be reached by ferry from Oban to Lochboisdale, or from Uig on Skye to Lochmaddy. This ferry docks at Lochmaddy on North Uist, which is connected to South Uist by causeway. The ferry is operated by Calmac Ferries. Alternatively, you can fly to Benbecula airport, which is also connected by causeway to South Uist.For the romantic getaway of a lifetime, a visit to Cuir-na-Bhoir promises to deliver.
