A wood-fired hot tub offers a glorious spot to rest and recharge, and with wonderful views from all rooms and wildlife in abundance, the cottage is a haven of peace and privacy in this glorious part of the New Forest.

The cottage is a spacious and comfortable detached house in the tiny hamlet of Bank just outside the popular New Forest village of Lyndhurst. Downstairs offers plenty of space for all the family to enjoy, with a log burner for cosy evenings in, and good-sized dining kitchen opening out onto a garden terrace with seating and fire pit. With three light and airy bedrooms and three bathrooms, it is a superb family holiday base. All the forest has to offer is right on your doorstep, or enjoy the large mature garden, set mainly to lawn with a small vegetable patch and a stream at the rear of the property complete with a natural wood fired Nordic tub. There is an attractive pub five minutes' walk along the track and the village of Lyndhurst is just a short drive away.

For all those foodies amongst you, Dell Cottage thoughtfully provides all the equipment you might need to prepare gourmet meals and entertain, both within the kitchen and outdoors for al fresco dining under the stars. With an outdoor pizza oven, gas fired grill, open Argentinian cage fire and meat smoker there is plenty to experiment with. And for the kids, an ice cream maker will keep them happy! A tree swing, relaxing hammock and tepee camp swing complete this fun filled holiday spot.

Please note that access to Dell Cottage is via an unmade gravel track. Please drive carefully as there may be potholes.

Dell Cottage can cater for a maximum of 6 adults and 2 children plus a baby/infant in a cot.

If you plan to depart on a Sunday, you are welcome to check out as late as 8pm to allow you time to enjoy a full day here!

Outside

Approached along a private unmade drive, Dell Cottage has a large mature enclosed garden accessed by a gate and cattle grid. Lawns extend around two sides of the property and there is a raised terrace with seating and a fire pit. A stream borders one side of the garden and a natural wood fired Nordic tub is tucked away beside the stream for you to enjoy whilst overlooking the forest glade. A hammock, swing and tepee tent swing are nestled under the mature trees. Outside the boundaries of the garden the Forest extends without interruption on three sides, with deer, ponies, squirrels, rabbits and birdlife all on the doorstep.

The local area

This little hamlet is set in beautiful countryside and woodland just a few kilometres west from the ‘capital’ town of the New Forest – Lyndhurst. It’s a pretty place with a comprehensive mix of ancient cottages, some from the 16th and 17th Century, as well as worker’s cottages and grander houses and homes built around the 19th Century. As you can imagine, there are lots of gorgeous chocolate box photo opportunities here. Bring your bike or don your walking shoes as there are some stunningly beautiful walks in and around Bank. The Oak Inn is considered by New Forest locals to be one of the best pubs in the area. The building dates from 1719 with low beams, horseshoes, inglenook fireplace, raw brickwork, wood panelling, nooks and crannies. The pub serves divine food and has a pleasant outdoor area where the forest’s free roaming ponies and donkeys like to gather.

Parking

Ample parking on private driveway. Please keep the gate closed at all times to prevent the livestock entering the garden.
