    More Information

Set back from the River Brathay, which flows through the pretty, Lake District village of Skelwith Bridge, is Ednas Cottage. This lovely, traditional, stone property occupies a honeypot location just outside Ambleside, with flag stoned floors and a range fireplace adding character to the interior. On return from a circular walk along the riverside, up to Elter Water, choose to relax in the snug sitting room, surrounded by the company of your loved ones, with the range fire roaring in the background as you catch up on some TV. You can use the well-equipped kitchen to cook up a storm for the family, and gather around the table to discuss the events from the day. Climb the staircase to find two charming bedrooms, each reflecting the style of the cottage with a thoughtful choice of décor. They are served by the family bathroom, which welcomes a lovely hot soak in the bath tub after a bracing walk, or a refreshing shower. To the outside is a pleasant seating area in the garden, where you can watch the world go by as you sip a chilled drink, and plan further adventures on the lakes and fells in the region. You can grab a spot of homemade lunch at ‘Chesters By The River’, a lovely tea room and gift shop just down the road, where you can dine alfresco and try a selection of treats, from wood-fired pizza and classic cakes, to salads and soups. Being in the heart of the Lake District, you have the towns and villages of Grasmere, with its gingerbread shop, Ambleside, home to William Wordsworth’s Rydal Mount and Windermere, where you can enjoy boat trips, shops and many eateries to choose from. Walking and cycling come in abundance, and there is also Brockhole adventure park and the National Trust’s Wray Castle. This charming retreat awaits your arrival, to a beautiful part of Cumbria.
