Entrance
Approached from Garrett Street and set behind an arched stone wall, Emelle is an end-of-terrace period cottage with three railed steps leading down to the front door opening into a small entrance vestibule off which are two staircases connecting you to the ground, lower ground, first and second floor accommodation.
Bathroom
Taking the carpeted staircase down, which has eight steps, you will find a fully tiled family bathroom W.C. with a corner shower, basin, bidet, bath and heated towel rail.
Living Room
A further step opens into the living room with a wooden floor, where you will be drawn by the large picture window and spectacular sea and coastal views. There are two comfortable sofas arranged before the picture window with a wood-burning stove to the side; this is the perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy time together.
Kitchen / Dining Room
From the living room, a metal spiral staircase with twelve carpeted open tread steps leads down to the lower ground floor and a kitchen/dining room with a wooden floor. You will be drawn by two windows providing you with a wonderful picture of the sea and coastline. To one side is a modern, fully fitted kitchen with an electric oven and induction hob, and opposite is a smart dining table and eight chairs. Kitchen appliances include a dishwasher, fridge, and microwave.
Utility
From the kitchen, a glazed door with a couple of steps lead down to the shared corridor giving access down onto the beach and to an outside utility/storage room with a basic shower, basin and WC and steps up to a utility area with washing machine, tumble dryer and an additional fridge/freezer; there is also room to hang wet beach gear. It is important to note that this utility/storage room is basic in its construction and decoration, and as such, please expect there to be some dust.

Bedroom 1
The master bedroom takes full advantage of the sea view with a small enclosed balcony, there is a king-size bed with a sofa and an en-suite shower room, W.C. with a corner shower, hand basin and heated towel rail.
Bedroom 2
The second bedroom has two zip-link 2'6 single beds, which can be put together to create a comfortable king.
Bedroom 3
A further carpeted staircase with fifteen steps takes you to the second floor and a comfortably furnished attic bedroom in the eaves with a double and a single bed, dual aspect Velux windows and an en-suite shower room, W.C. with a shower cubicle, small basin and heated towel rail.

Steeped in history and overlooking the stunning Plymouth Sound, Cawsand even featured in the period drama Mr Turner. Spend your days wandering its narrow streets, where colourful cottages line the water’s edge, and take a leisurely stroll into neighbouring Kingsand. Together, these vibrant villages offer a wonderful selection of independent shops, galleries, and cosy spots to enjoy local food and drink, or simply sit back and soak up the atmosphere.
Perfectly positioned, Emelle is just 30 yards from the beach, as well as the village bakery and tea room, and only 50 yards from the local pub and restaurant, everything you need right on your doorstep.
For those who love the sea, you’ll be spoilt for choice. A pathway carved into the rocks from the cottage leads directly to Girt Beach, a peaceful, dog-friendly haven backed by the iconic clock tower, built to commemorate the coronation of King George V. Within just 200 metres, you’ll also find two more beautiful beaches in Cawsand and Kingsand. A little further afield, the sweeping sands of Whitsand Bay, just five miles away, offer three miles of golden coastline to explore.
Walking enthusiasts will be in their element, with endless inland and coastal routes to enjoy. Join the famous South West Coast Path and head towards Penlee Point for spectacular views of Rame Head, or venture in the opposite direction to the magnificent Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park, where landscaped gardens and a grand stately home overlook the water.
For a change of pace, the vibrant city of Plymouth is just a short ferry ride away from Torpoint. Alternatively, hop on a foot passenger ferry from Mount Edgcumbe, or directly from Cawsand beach during the summer months. Plymouth offers fantastic shopping, dining, and entertainment, including highlights such as the Theatre Royal Plymouth and the National Marine Aquarium.

Outside
The outside space for this cottage is the beach, which is accessed from the kitchen via half a dozen steps cut into the rocks. There is also a small courtyard to the front, which is open to Garrett Street. Garden and balcony furniture is provided.
The local area
Just the other side of the Tamar Bridge or reached by ferry from Plymouth is the Rame Peninsula – a wild headland studded with fishing villages, golden sandy beaches and pretty coves. It is home to Cawsand, a little haven of pastel-coloured cottages encircling a shingle beach and bay that overlooks the stunning Plymouth Sound. On clear days, you can catch a glimpse of all sorts of wildlife from birds to seals and dolphins, and even the famous Eddystone lighthouse.
Holidays in Cawsand are slow, peaceful and relaxing. Explore its narrow streets, shops and galleries, buy fresh sourdough bread and pastries from the Old Bakery and enjoy fish and chips or seriously good pub grub at old sailors’ haunt the Devonport. Cawsand’s twin village of Kingsand is equally as charming: while away a lazy afternoon wandering its historic streets with an ice cream in hand.
With its colourful wooden boats, shingle beach and woodland border, holidays in Cawsand are ideal for those who wish to escape the crowds in this idyllic little bay. The crystal-clear, calm water is perfect if you want to enjoy a morning dip, SUP or kayak. Kayaking and stand-up paddleboards can be hired on the beach. Enjoy a day out in the bustling city of Plymouth with its enticing array of restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops – just catch the Cremyll Ferry from the beach.
If walking is your thing, Whitsand Bay is just over five miles away along the South West Coast Path. These long, golden sandy beaches are often quiet even at the height of summer and are perfect for surfing, sunbathing and sand castles. Picnic in the dreamy riverside gardens at Port Eliot, a boho stately home which hosts quirky events such as the Dog Festival & Whippet Tea Party in May and a popular literary festival in the summer, or head to Mount Edgcumbe park, where you can rent bikes or Segways for a fun afternoon out.
Tea and cake at the Long Gallery, the beautifully restored old school house in St Germans, prepares you for a bracing walk around Rame Head. In medieval times monks were said to have retreated to its chapel – a tiny stone building far out on the headland. You feel you might be swept away with the seagulls. Afterwards, the Rod and Line in Tideford serves a lovely Sunday roast.
