Slow you down, as we say in Norfolk, and where better to do so than Foxglove. This peaceful, eco-friendly hideaway is in the depths of rural Norfolk in Houghton, surrounded by open countryside, and often gets overlooked by those dashing to the coast. If you’re looking for a tranquil escape only a short drive to the coast, local pubs, attractions and nature reserves, then Foxglove is for you. Foxglove is all about location. There is nowhere better than Houghton for enjoying peace and tranquillity, with no traffic noise, wildlife on your doorstep, dark skies for stargazing, empty country lanes for bike rides, and miles of local footpaths. In harmony with the beautiful nature that surrounds it, Foxglove is fitted with a biomass boiler and solar panel to help reduce its carbon footprint. With secure bike storage, you can leave the car behind. Completely private and semi-detached from neighbouring Hollyhock (sleeps 4), this charming single storey wooden cottage is surprisingly spacious for two people. It has a fabulous deck that boasts stunning, panoramic views, and makes a great place for al fresco dining on warmer days, or for sharing a sundown glass or two after a busy day out exploring. The cottage is bright, modern and fresh feeling, with terracotta floors, a well-equipped kitchen and a comfortable king-size bed. Dogs, and even horses, are welcome too. There is adequate parking for three cars to the front, and an electric vehicle charger available. With Houghton Hall and deer park as your neighbour you will certainly feel rather special here. Rub shoulders with royalty as you cycle the empty country lanes to Sandringham Estate via Anmer, home to the Prince and Princess of Wales. The convenient market town of Fakenham has the best street market and auction rooms around, or maybe you fancy a day at the Fakenham Races. Head to Bircham Windmill with a fabulous café, shops and children’s farm, sniff out the Norfolk Lavender fields, or walk the dog along the Peddars Way path. Additional Information All bedding provided is synthetic. Two well behaved dogs are welcome (small additional charge). Horses by arrangement. There is a cot and high chair available on request.
