    Dolgellau 2.1 miles. Gilfachwydd, a charming two-bedroom cottage, is located in a rural area of Islawrdref, close to Dolgellau, in Gwynedd. Gilfachwydd is well situated in the Eryri National Park next to Llyn Gwernan and provides a characterful base for a family of six and their canine companion who wish to experience the wonders of North Wales. Park up on the private driveway before entering this traditionally furnished home-from-home. Enjoy the original features of the sitting room with comfortable seats, a woodburning stove, exposed stonework, and original beams above. Continue into the well-equipped kitchen/diner to meet your self-catering needs before congregating in the living/dining room, which offers enough of space for your family to dine and socialise. Make use of the enclosed rear garden, which features a sprawling lawn and nice patio space to soak up the surroundings if you prefer outdoor dining. Rest in one of the spacious family rooms, each of which has a double, single, and en-suite bathroom. Start your day with a cup of coffee in the suntrap conservatory before travelling to Dolgellau, which is the area’s closest centre of amenities. Grab your hiking boots when you’re ready to explore and climb Penygader (Cadair Idris), or take the New Precipice Walk/Llwybr Llanelltyd route for lofty views of the national park. As you make your way to the shore, stop at Arthog Waterfalls first, before taking a ride on the Fairbourne Railway, a stroll along Fairbourne Beach, or playing a round of golf at the Fairbourne Golf Club. In addition to being a well-liked beach resort, Barmouth offers a variety of amenities, or head inland to hike through the Abercorris North Wales Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve and visit the Corris Mine Explorers.
