A luxuriously converted stable with bags of country cottage character plus modern convenience, Grayrigg Foot Stable is located in the village of Grayrigg and ideally located for an exploration of the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales.
Built from local stone and sympathetically renovated by local craftsmen, Grayrigg Foot Stable is perfect for friends or family who want to get away from it all and explore this beautiful part of the world.
As you walk into the large open plan living area, you can immediately see the attention to detail that has been paid in converting these old farm buildings into a comfortable and contemporary holiday home. There are plenty of original beams and part of the old stable building has been cleverly incorporated into the dining area. There’s a fully fitted kitchen, and a modern wood burner housed in an inglenook fireplace adds warmth and character. Upstairs there’s a double and a twin bedroom, both en-suite. There’s a bathtub, separate shower cubicle, basin and WC for the double bedroom and a shower, basin and WC for the twin room. Everything has been finished to the highest standard in a very contemporary style.
Outside there’s a pretty stone flagged patio area that was once the pig sty, and a lawned area bordered by a stream. There’s also a little wooden bridge leading to the hen house and beautiful views over farmland and the surrounding countryside. Grayrigg Foot Stable has off-road parking for 2 cars.
There’s a village shop in Grayrigg, a traditional Lakeland village just 5 minutes from Kendal with its bustling centre packed with pubs, restaurants and independent shops, while there are several retail parks on the outskirts. There’s plenty of walking in the area with the Howgill fells and Grayrigg forest within easy reach. The Dales Way passes the front door of the cottage for easy access to some stunning countryside.
Kendal is known as the gateway to the South Lakes, and Windermere and Coniston are just a 20 minute drive away. Don’t miss a trip on one of the famous steamers through Swallows and Amazons country, or visit the Aquarium of the Lakes and the South Lakes Safari Zoo. Hurtle through the treetops when you Go Ape or simply drink in the peace and quiet. Relax over a great dinner in one of the many award-winning restaurants in the area.
With so much to see and do literally on the doorstep, Grayrigg Foot Stable is the ideal base for an exploration of the Yorkshire fells and dales and the South Lakes at any time of the year.
