    More Information

Kilcar 2 miles. Located along a quiet, rural road and next to the owners’ home is this welcoming detached cottage, situated near the village of Kilcar along Donegal’s breathtaking west coast. Lovingly decorated and tastefully furnished throughout, the cottage is a wonderful place for couples and groups of friends to relax and explore this wild and rustic part of the north west of Ireland. Offering upside down accommodation, enter through the stable door where you will be met by two ground floor bedrooms, which share a Jack-and-Jill shower room. Venture upstairs to the open plan living area, which encompasses a well-equipped, fitted kitchen, an elegant dining area and a spacious sitting area where browsing the selection of books by the warmth of the electric stove with a warm drink will be in order after a day’s walking or cycling. Outside is a decked area where a glass of wine or a spot of lunch can be enjoyed, whilst absorbing the views of Teelin Bay and what is the beginning of the majestic Slieve League cliffs. The peaceful village of Kilcar lies to the west of Ireland’s premier fishing port in Killybegs, as does Donegal Town, which is home to the picturesque Lough Eske and Donegal Castle. To the east is the Glengesh Pass, one of Ireland’s most popular views to photograph and as the gateway to the Donegal Gaeltacht, Kilcar is a wonderful base to enjoy culture, tradition and scenery with endless walking and cycling trails to explore, along with a local tweed mill. Kilcar also boasts a wonderful reputation for traditional Irish music with many of the pubs coming alive in the evenings to host a session. Further afield are some of Donegal’s Blue Flag beaches at Bundoran and Portnoo, plus the town of Letterkenny offers wonderful shopping opportunities, and for lovers of the outdoors, the Glenveagh National Park gives access to nearly forty thousand acres of unspoilt wilderness. This delightful holiday home is the perfect base to discover the beautiful county of Donegal.
