Entrance into open plan living space including lounge area with comfortable seating including two double sofa beds (one of which can be made available for occasional use), Smart TV and log burning stove. Dining table to seat four. Kitchen with induction hob, microwave and small larder fridge. Bedroom with 4ft 6 double bed, wardrobe and bed side tables. Family bathroom with bath only (no shower), wash basin and WC. Separate utility room with larder fridge, freezer, washing machine, clothes airer, iron and ironing board.

Herons is a delightful wooden cabin set within extensive grounds, ideal for a couple or small family. Comfortably furnished with a double bedroom, family bathroom and open plan living space, this delightful cabin is a wonderful base for your next New Forest holiday. With floor to ceiling windows overlooking fields, and doorways out onto the verandah from the living area and bedroom, the peaceful countryside views surround the cabin. A double sofa bed is available in the lounge area for occasional use.

The village of West Wellow has a thriving community, with a selection of local stores including mini markets, a butchers and chemist. Situated on the western edge of the New Forest National Park it is an ideal location for enjoying outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, and horse riding. The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside, with local pubs including The Rockingham Arms set on Canada Common, within a short drive or cycle and the Red Rover just a mile away. Just across the lane is Headlands Farm’s café, along with padel courts and a wellness centre. Historic Salisbury and the maritime city of Southampton are within a half hour drive. Paultons Park featuring Peppa Pig World is just 10 minutes by car and the New Forest Wildlife Park is 15 minutes away.

Please note there is no oven at this property; there is a microwave and induction hob only. This property is only suitable for a maximum of 2 adults and 1 babe in arms.

Outside

There is a covered verandah attached to the cabin with seating to admire the views overlooking the extensive grounds and fields, with grazing sheep, woodland and a stream bordering the grounds. Deer, rabbits, all manner of birds, including kingfishers and of course a heron are all constant visitors to the gardens. A covered outdoor area housing an exercise bike and rowing machine is available for guests to use, along with two mountain bikes.

The local area

The big sister to East Wellow, West Wellow is a flourishing village bordering The New Forest national Park. There are a selection of shops and amenities for everyday supplies, including a Chemist, Post Office and a petrol station. The Rockingham Arms is a wonderful pub with a fine reputation for food, well-kept ale and lovely wine. The pub also has a gorgeous shop, selling an eclectic and unusual mix of tempting gifts. Carlo’s Ice Cream parlour and cafe between East Wellow and West Wellow, is worth seeking out for amazing ice cream and scrumptious home-made food.

The village has a Cricket Pavilion, Tennis Club, Football club, Recreation Ground and busy Church Village Hall with a year-round calendar of events. Fishing in this region is superb. Headlands Farm Coarse Fishery in West Wellow has a good reputation and a few miles on in East Wellow, you’ll find Whinwhistle Coarse Fishery and next door, Woodington Trout Fishery which has a café for wholesome snacks and hearty breakfasts.

The river Blackwater and surrounding ancient woodland to the north of the village is an amazing location for wildlife – Otters, Herons, Buzzards, Kingfishers, Roe and Fallow deer, Badgers, Rabbits and Foxes are often sighted here.
