You can work up an appetite by climbing the 199 steps up to St. Mary’s church and the abbey, or take an invigorating clifftop walk along the Cleveland Way, with breathtaking views along the dramatic coastline. The long sandy beaches are a delight, lined with brightly painted beach huts, while the pretty gardens in Pannet Park, along with the art gallery, are well worth a visit.
