Enjoy a scenic stroll along the Teesdale way public footpath that runs along the glistening River Tees, and uncover the Roman Bridge and enchanting Ruins of St Lawrence chapel. Stop by the Market town of Barnard Castle, stepping back in time as you see what remains of the imposing Castle and wander through the grand architecture of The Bowes Museum. Or take a tour of the Head of Steam Railway Museum in Darlington and the National Railway Museum in Shildon. Discover the wonders of the imposing Raby Castle, a 14th century fortress and grounds, home to art treasures and tapestries and all set within a beautiful deer park, before rounding off the day with a special trip to Raby Hunt Restaurant, a Michelin starred establishment serving simple yet visually stunning food. Further afield the magnificent historical city of Durham invites you to explore the amazing cathedral and the cobbled streets before walking along the banks of the River Weir. Walworth is a pretty village in Teesdale and home to the 11th Century Walworth Castle, situated close to The North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which incorporates much of the stunning landscape in the Durham Dales. The ancient market town of Barnard Castle lies 13 miles to the West and within easy reach, boasting castle remains overlooking the town, as well as the spectacular Bowes Museum․ Built as an impressive French-style chateau, the museum houses a magnificent collection of fine and decorative art. Other places of interest close to Walworth are Raby Castle which is an imposing medieval castle with art treasures and tapestries in a scenic deer park setting, The ruins of Egglestone Abbey, Rokeby Hall and High Force waterfall are also close by. The historic market town of Richmond and gateway to the Yorkshire Dales lies 13 miles South of Hill View․ It is a wonderful town to explore boasting cobble streets, individual shops and of course the medieval remains of the castle. Bishop Auckland, 9 miles North, offers a wonderful treat with a visit to Auckland Castle one of the best-preserved bishops’ palaces in the whole of Europe and home to the world renowned Zurbarán paintings. The area offers many opportunities for walking and cycling and the chance to visit a number of farm shops including Thorpe Farm Shop at Greta Bridge and a little closer Piercebridge Organics and Ulnaby. There are a number of beautiful beaches within striking distance of Hill View along the North East coast.
