Corwen 5.8 miles. Nestled on the outskirts of Maerdy near Corwen in North Wales, is this contemporary two-bedroom lodge, Hilltop. Taking its name from its superb, elevated position which offers exceptional views from its bubbling hot tub or private roof terrace, Hilltop makes for a perfect dwelling for couples or a family of four who are looking to add a touch of style to their North Wales adventure. The charming town of Llangollen is within easy reach, here you can hop aboard a vintage steam train on the heritage railway where you can expect exceptional views whilst travelling through the Dee Valley AONB. The town is also home to the historic 14th-century Plas Newydd Historic House & Gardens, the Llangollen Museum, the 13th-century ruins of Castell Dinas Bran, and the horse-drawn boat centre, where you can journey up to the UNESCO Word Heritage Site of Pontcysyllte, famed for being Britain’s largest aqueduct. From here you can drive up to the grand National Trust site of Erddig, a large 18th-century manor with 12,000-acres of garden. Make a stop in Wrexham which offers excellent shopping opportunities, wildlife rich walks within the Moss Valley Country Park an and a good selection of golf clubs. If it’s outdoor adventures you seek, why not venture over to Bala, where you can sail, canoe and kayak on the lake’s vast waters, or if that isn’t your thing, head to Ruthin where you can indulge in a pamper at Ruthin Castle’s spa or explore the Ruthin Gaol Museum.
