Ingle Burrow is a delightful picture-postcard cottage just a short stroll from the centre of Windermere at the heart of the Lake District.
Tastefully decorated in a blend of the contemporary and the traditional, this charming terraced cottage is dog friendly and is the perfect base for a family holiday in the Lake District whatever the time of year.
This Victorian cottage is built from the local stone and has accommodation across three floors. Everything is finished to the highest standard creating a warm and cosy feel to this traditional home-from-home cottage. The living room is bright and welcoming with squashy sofas around the open fire. There’s also a dining area with a wood burning stove, ideal for those chilly evenings when you’re not eating outside, and a fully equipped dining kitchen.
There are two first-floor bedrooms, both with an en-suite shower room, one master double bedroom with an elegant metal bedstead, TV and a also a single bedroom.
On the second floor there’s a zip and link super king size bed which can be converted to twin beds if required, with a pine washstand and some delightful views out across the open countryside. Finally, there’s the period-style family bathroom with a shower over the bathtub, pedestal sink and WC.
The secure paved garden is a glorious sun trap, making it the ideal place for outdoor dining or simply to relax after a busy day sightseeing or walking in the Lakes – your dogs will love it too! With all the amenities of Windermere on the doorstep, you can leave your cars in the two off road parking spaces provided.
Ingle Burrow is in one of the most privileged locations in the Lake District, just a few minutes from the lively and vibrant villages of Windermere and Bowness on the shores of Lake Windermere. From quirky independent shops to traditional inns and pubs, the cobbled streets play host to everything from tapas bars to local craft ales and Cartmel lamb at the Mason’s Arms. Children (and adults too!) will love Beatrix Potter World or exploring the islands of Swallows and Amazons country on a steamer cruise. The Lakes Aquarium features sharks and reptiles, and the Lakeland Motor Museum has a superb collection of vintage and classic cars. Don’t miss a trip on the picturesque Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway or the mock-Gothic splendour of Wray Castle.
There are good transport links from Windermere to the North Lakes, or take a drive over the magnificent Kirkstone pass to Derwentwater, Keswick, Grasmere and Ullswater for an exploration of Wordsworth country. Everywhere you go there are world-class walks and cycling routes with outstanding views, and beautiful Morecambe Bay is within easy reach for a picnic on the beach.
