More information

Ivy Cottage is a stunning, spacious stone cottage situated in the heart of the village of Earl Sterndale, five miles from Buxton, Derbyshire and amidst the wonderful countryside of upper Dovedale and the Staffordshire moorlands, with a wealth of walks and cyciling routes from the doorstep. Formerly three separate cottages now one of the oldest in the village, the owners have refurbished the property with a mixture of family antiques and new modern facilities to create one large and wonderful holiday home, ideal for a group of friends and families. You step into the property through the beautiful new conservatory with chaise longue, table and chairs, in effect an extra living room, and then enter a spacious hallway/snug room with two bookcases filled with a variety of books and a corner chair where you can sit and delve into a good book in the peace and quiet. To the right of the front door is a cosy sitting room, with woodburning stove and with two plush sofas and a TV with a DVD player and radio/CD player. Here you can settle down after a long day and relax. To left of the hall is a spacious dining room with seating for up to six people, a wonderful social space for dining together, with the original cast iron range (not in use) showing the wealth of character this property houses. The cosy fitted kitchen has lovely cream units, wooden worktops, Smeg range cooker and Belfast sink, with ample appliances to help you prepare all types of home cooked meals. A separate utility
room houses the microwave, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. On the ground floor is a family bathroom with shower over. Upstairs has three charming bedrooms: one king size double (New in 2022 king size bed), one twin and one single (with z-bed available for flexibility), with a separate w.c./shower room. Each bedroom has been furnished with new comfortable beds which ensure a good night’s sleep. Outside has a lovely front enclosed, south facing, traditional village garden and patio with table and chairs provided; a lovely spot to sit out and enjoy the sunshine throughout the day. There is roadside parking available directly outside the property. A 10 minute drive away is Buxton home to the famous Opera House and Festival in July with many other year round attractions to offer, while Chatsworth, Alton Towers, the market towns of Bakewell, Ashbourne, Leek are all under a half hour drive away. Ivy Cottage is a wonderful property, located in the heart of the Peak District countryside.
