More information

Keepers Fold is a peaceful well equipped retreat in the middle of the St. Abbs Head Nature Reserve, high on the cliffs, overlooking the sea and close to the Lighthouse. Offering a comfortable base for two along this rugged stretch of coastline. Inside, the open-plan living space keeps things simple and relaxed, with a kitchen equipped for easy meal prep, a dining table for unhurried mealtimes, and a sitting area to settle into after a day exploring the cliffs and coves. The property features a super-king-size bedroom with zip/link beds, giving the option to arrange as twins if needed, handy for couples or friends sharing. A shower room with walk-in shower, basin and WC completes the interior. Outside, off-road parking makes arriving straightforward. Just outside the gate, trails around the headland offer sweeping views north to Bass Rock and down the cliff to a storied landing stage with nearby basking seals. Further down, the trail around Mire Loch offers sightings of swan, ducks and song birds and a variety of wildflowers amid the grasslands and gorse. The Visitor Center at the entrance to the Reserve offers reports of daily sightings, a tea room and gallery. Walk over the cliffs or drive to St. Abbs harbour and see the daily catch arrive- and enjoyharbor restaurants. Further walking or a drive takes you to Coldingham Bay and village, where there are shops and a good pub/restaurant. The fishing port of Eyemouth is a morning walk over the cliffs or a short drive. Enjoy the sight of deep-sea fishing boats unloading their catch or the bakery, restaurants, galleries and museum around the historic streets. Not much further south, down the A1 is the walled border town of Berwick on Tweed. Walk around the walls and enjoy Tweed views, or wander through the historic streets and buildings with shops large and small. Walkers can also take in stretches of the Berwickshire Coastal Path, making Keepers Fold at The Lighthouse a well-placed base for exploring this distinctive part of the Scottish Borders.
