Ken Cottage boasts a stunning private garden with a spacious, secure lawn perfect for families. Mature trees and vibrant borders provide shade and seasonal colour, while the sunroom opens directly onto the garden, ideal for alfresco dining or relaxing outdoors. The lawn offers plenty of space for games, picnics, or unwinding after coastal adventures.
Keyhaven is a tiny coastal hamlet, less than a mile from its bigger brother, Milford on Sea. The hamlet is part of Keyhaven Nature Reserve, which spans almost 500 acres of land overlooking the Solent with views of Hurst Castle and the Isle of Wight. There are two sailing clubs, a small sheltered harbour, a family-run boatyard and pub. The area is popular with paddle boarders, sea kayaking and canoeing, with plenty of tuition and equipment hire providers nearby. It’s also a great spot for fishing or just pootling about in your dingy. The nature reserve itself is a mecca for bird watchers and wildlife.
Visitors love the well signposted circular walks, and gravel paths surrounding the reserve which are suitable for cyclists, pushchairs and wheel chair users. Keyhaven also forms part of the Solent Way – a 60-mile coastal walk, which runs from Christchurch in the west to the other side of Portsmouth. A popular way to spend the day is to walk the long shingle spit to Hurst Castle. Originally a fortress built for Henry VIII, it has been used as a jail and been extended over the centuries. During WWII Hurst Castle was an armoury and look out. It’s a fascinating place to visit, with great views. Hurst Castle is open most of the year (weekends only during the winter), and if you don’t fancy walking back, you can take the little ferry to Keyhaven harbour.
There is parking for two cars using the private driveway and the grass outside the front of the property.
