Tavistock 4 miles. An immaculately-presented detached barn conversion on a secluded part of Dartmoor National Park on the owner’s smallholding.A mile and a half by car from the small village of Peter Tavy, and close to the market town of Tavistock. In a rural setting up on the moor and with magnificent views of Dartmoor, this cosy cottage, which dates back to 1900 is ideal for a peaceful getaway close to excellent walking routes. Boasting an attractive interior with oak flooring, exposed beams, luxurious soft furnishings and a stone fireplace housing a woodburning stove, this Tavistock cottage retains much original character and charm. There is a very spacious mezzanine king-size double bedroom, along with a bathroom on the first floor, whilst on the ground floor is a twin bedroom and shower room. From inside you can admire the panoramic views and on the farm itself you can enjoy completely, uninterrupted 350 degree views of the surrounding moor. Also from this lovely holiday home there’s almost zero light pollution, with the Milky Way frequently and clearly visible. This property has direct access to Dartmoor, without the need to cross roads and is a walkers and dog lovers paradise, plus just a ten minute walk away is a Bronze Age settlement, and there are standing stones within reach. Also a number of famous Dartmoor sites are a short walk or drive away. Reached by a drive up the side of a moor, Tavistock has a good range of shops and some renowned restaurants and pubs, while the slopes of Dartmoor are on the edge of the town and are very popular with walkers. With National Trust properties and outstanding gardens in the area, along with sandy beaches within an hour’s drive, this delightful cottage is the ideal base to get away from it all and for exploring this stunning and wild part of Devon.
