More information

Waberthwaite 1.3 miles. A 17th century detached farmhouse, overlooking the Irish sea with Corney Fell to the rear, just 2.6 miles from the small town of Bootle on the western side of the Lake District National Park, with distant views across across the Irish sea to the Isle of Man. This extremely comfortable cottage oozes charm and character, with beams and even a safe in the sitting room, and is ideal for a large family or group of friends wishing to explore this area. It’s comfortably presented with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a sitting room with woodburning stove and a kitchen with dining area. Outside, there is a patio and garden with private seven seater hot tub, and located in the adjoining barn is a games room, equipped with a table tennis table, pool table and air hockey table. Just 1.3 miles away is the village of Waberthwaite, with the Brown Cow Inn and specialist butcher selling traditional Cumberland sausages. Heading south to Bootle you will find a shingle beach, which eventually reaches Silecroft with its award-winning beach and a 9-hole links golf course. Silecroft also has a trekking centre which specialises in coastal gallops, whilst the Cumbrian Heavy Horses are based nearby. From Bootle you can jump on board the branch line and travel by train to Ravenglass from where you can join the Lil Ratty, The Ravenglass & Eskdale Steam Railway, and explore the beautiful Eskdale Valley with views of the surrounding mountains and fells, including Scafell. This lovely cottage is a great base for a wonderful Lake District holiday at any time of the year.
