Just a short stroll from the pebbled beach at Milford on Sea is a modern gem of a holiday home. Needles Gap has been tastefully furnished with a soothing seaside colour scheme and beautiful local artwork to give a restful interior. With glimpses of the sea and of course the landmark Needles off the Isle of Wight from the master bedroom, this really is a holiday home from home.
Outside, the enclosed private garden has a covered seating area to enjoy the distant sound of the waves in all weathers whilst dining al fresco.
Milford on Sea is a pretty coastal village with an array of independent shops, cafes and pubs centred around the village green. With its own wine bar, micro-brewery and renowned restaurants this vibrant spot has plenty to tempt you during your stay.
The New Forest National Park, with it’s free-roaming ponies, is just a short drive away, as is the Georgian market town of Lymington. From here, you can catch the ferry to the Isle of Wight for an exciting day out, perhaps to visit The Needles themselves! Other local attractions include Hurst Castle and the Lymington-Keyhaven Nature Reserve which can be explored on foot or by bike along the Solent Way. Breath-taking cliff top walks with spectacular views, great beaches and thriving wildlife make this a perfect holiday base.
The rear garden is enclosed with a lawn and covered patio with rattan seating plus a further bistro table and chair set, fire basket and barbecue.
With its brightly-coloured beach huts and strolling promenade, this coastal parish is every bit the traditional seaside holiday destination. On a clear day, you’ll be able to gaze all the way to the chalky sea stacks known as the Needles which stand off the Isle of Wight, and under a blanket of twinkling stars on a dark night you’ll see the distant harbour lights of Christchurch, Poole and Bournemouth.
The best thing about Milford on Sea is the ease at which you can swap the fresh sea air of the Solent for the leafy woodland glades of the majestic New Forest, making it the ideal base from which to explore the many wending ways of Hampshire.
One of Milford on Sea’s most popular local walks takes in a sweeping stretch along Hurst Spit between the saltmarshes and mudflats and the sparkling bay waters. The path leads you all the way to the medieval ramparts of Hurst Castle and the brilliant white cylindrical walls of Hurst Point Lighthouse, which was built in the 1860s.
The village green is the centre point of the village surrounded by some lovely cafes, a delicatessaen, a wonderful bakery, butcher, fruit & veg shop, fish & chip shop and newsagents to name a few. There is also a wine bar and micro brewery – both offering take away so as you can enjoy your drink sat on the green and the local pub serving good food – especially popular for their sunday roast !
Whether you’re looking to relax and unwind or roam and explore, you’ll find the best of both worlds when you holiday at Milford on Sea. Have a look at our growing list of Milford on Sea holiday cottages and start planning your seaside escape.
