    More Information

Just a short stroll from the heart of pretty Ashburton is the gorgeous Old Armoury Barn. Tucked away in a quiet courtyard, this former barn has been beautifully converted to provide excellent, contemporary, accommodation for four guests. Laid out in a reverse-level style to take advantage of the light; the spacious open-plan living space is simply stunning. All natural materials have been used to create this bright and airy room which has an exceptional quality of design. Featuring hard wood floors and exposed roof trusses, the stylish sitting area with a cosy corner woodburning stove looks out over the surrounding roofscape to the countryside beyond. The large kitchen/dining area is a brilliant space for preparing a meal and has sleek surfaces and a solid oak table and chairs. The ground floor bedrooms are equally stylish and are wonderfully restful. Outside is a small, south-facing patio with attractive wooden planters and furniture, ideal for an alfresco evening meal. Ashburton, a former Stannary town, has a rich history and many ancient buildings. Well-known for its quality independent shops, including an award-winning fish delicatessen, several antique shops and a nationally-recognised cookery school, here you have the best of both worlds. Dartmoor with its tors, rivers and rugged landscape is on your doorstep and here you can try your hand at fishing, pony and llama trekking, climbing and kayaking. Meanwhile, the South Hams offers some of the best beaches in Devon, picture-postcard villages, and attractive small towns such as Totnes, Dartmouth and Salcombe. The South West Coastal Path passes through the region taking in some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK.
