A few steps lead up to the terrace of cottages, and a gated footpath with a right of way leads to the front door, which opens to a flagstoned entrance porch. The original storm doors lead to an inner hallway.

Wake up to sweeping coastal views stretching from Rame Head to Dodman Point in this charming seaside retreat, perched just 50 yards above Downderry Beach.
Perfectly positioned in the heart of Downderry, this cosy single-storey cottage is only a minute’s stroll from the sandy beach, where rock pools are revealed at low tide. The village pub and restaurant are just around the corner, making it easy to enjoy relaxed evenings close to home.
Originally built in the early 1800s as part of the old coastguard station, the cottage retains its timeless character, with whitewashed walls and a traditional Delabole slate roof. Inside, you’ll find a warm and welcoming space, ideal for couples or a small family seeking a peaceful coastal escape.
For those who love the outdoors, coastal walks lead to the neighbouring village of Seaton in around 20 minutes, while golf and diving are available nearby. The popular seaside town of Looe (6 miles) and the picturesque harbour village of Polperro (10 miles) offer charming shops, cafés and boat trips. A visit to the Wild Futures Monkey Sanctuary, less than 10 minutes away, makes for a memorable day out.

There is a small sheltered courtyard with a rotary line and a useful laundry room with a 2nd sink. The level front lawn extends to the edge of the low cliffs with delightful views overlooking the sea and beach below. There are boundary fences between the cottages (although young children will need to be supervised) and a 3ft high sturdy wire fence on the seaward side. Barbecue and garden furniture provided.
Set along south east Cornwall’s coast, the small seaside village of Downderry has a long stretch of light shingle. The dog-friendly beach is easily accessible and is only a short walk from many of our holiday cottages in Downderry. There are rock pools a-plenty at low tide for children to scamper around and discover the local sea-life.
Downderry itself is a small village and is home to the popular Blue Plate Restaurant which offers a wide selection of locally sourced food, including plenty of freshly-caught seafood. There's also a seaside pub, perfect for summer sundowners or warming hot chocolates after wintery beach walks.
Downderry beach links with Seaton, which is a pleasant walk (or short drive) away, and the South West Coast Path runs right through the village.
Further afield, the picturesque fishing towns of Looe and Polperro are only a short drive away with many interesting shops, restaurants and attractions, while the historic city of Plymouth is only 18 miles away in nearby Devon. Here you'll find shopping centres, independent shops, cinemas, theatres and leisure centres, as well as wine bars, bistros, restaurants and pubs.
A holiday cottage in the village of Downderry offers a beautiful, peaceful seaside escape with the benefit of having a fantastic restaurant right on your doorstep and easy access to the busier seaside resorts.
